Lauren Johnson Tabbed Assistant Coach For Augusta Women’s Hoops

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head women's basketball coach Millette Green announced her first hire in new assistant coach Lauren Johnson. Johnson enters her first year with the team for the 2017-18 season.

 

Johnson spent four seasons as an assistant coach for Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C., from 2013-17. She picked up the clipboard at SWU after finishing her playing career with Warriors following the 2012-13 season.

 

"I am pleased to add Lauren Johnson to our staff," Green said. "After speaking with her, I felt like her core values aligned with mine. Her prior experiences as a player and coach will allow her to contribute to all aspects of our program. I am excited about her joining our program and helping build a championship caliber program." 

 

Johnson was named to the SSAC All-Conference team, while also earning All-American and All-Region honors during her time. Her 510 points during her senior campaign are the highest single season total since the 2003 season. Johnson was also the head junior varsity coach for the Warriors for two seasons during her coaching stint.

 

Johnson will assist coach Green will all phases of the women's basketball program at Augusta University.
