Four Jags Score Double Figures In 88-72 Loss At Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Augusta University women's basketball team played their eighth Peach Belt Conference road game on Wednesday night and fell 88-72 to the Lander Bearcats in Greenwood, S.C.

 

Augusta (10-9, 5-8 PBC) had four players score in double figures led by senior Breonna O'Conner's 18 points. O'Conner ranks fifth in the Peach Belt with 16.4 points per game and leads the league with 56 steals.

 

Jags senior Kayla Lovett scored 15 and juniors Joshlyn Belcher and Abrea Harris contributed 14 each. Harris added six steals, six assists, and six rebounds.

 

Leading the PBC East Division, Lander (15-5, 8-3 PBC) was led by Ty'Hesha Reynolds' 37 points and Breshay Johnson's 18. Johnson is second in the league in scoring and Reynolds ranks sixth. Johnson added 14 boards and McLea McKenith 16 points.

 

Lander shot 60 percent from the floor to AU's 42.2 percent and outrebounded Augusta 39-24. AU never held the lead in the game, but did outscore the Bearcats in the bench points 28-10.

 

Augusta hosts Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, Feb. 4 against the UNC Pembroke Braves at 12:30 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The men's game follows at 2:30 p.m. Soldiers from Fort Gordon Military Base will the fill the stands of the 'berry as the Jaguars honor our armed forces during the PBC doubleheader.
