Abrea Harris Earns Jags Second PBC Player Of The Week Award This Season

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team has the first Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week award in 2017, as junior-transfer Abrea Harris earned the accolade on Monday afternoon. The Peach Belt announced the award from the league offices in Augusta.

Abrea Harris came off the bench for a career-high 28 points in Augusta's 76-75 win over Fayetteville State on Dec. 30 in their lone game of the holiday break.

The junior from Charlotte, N.C., scored 24 of those 28 points in the second half and 14 in the fourth quarter alone as the Jaguars erased a 14-point deficit to win by one. Harris' free throw with eight seconds left provided the winning margin. "Bre" hit 12 of 17 shots from the floor with five rebounds and four steals. She is currently ninth in the PBC in field goal percentage.

This is the second PBC Player of the Week award for the Jags this season, after junior Ashleigh Outler held the title for the week of Dec. 5.
