Outler Lights Up The Three-Point Line, Jags Win 76-52 Over Coker College

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team clashed with the Coker College Cobras on Tuesday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse and won 76-52 in non-conference action. Augusta moved the 3-0 with the win and has beat their opponents by at least 24 points every game.

Augusta (3-0) held Coker (0-5) winless and blew them out in the second half. Jaguar junior Ashleigh Outler had 12 first-half points and ended the night with a career-high 29 points. Outler made six three pointers in the contest and had six of the teams eight total threes.

Junior Abrea Harris scored 11 points with five rebounds and senior preseason All-Conference selection Breonna O'Conner turned in 10 points in the first half. Augusta shot 44.8 percent from field-goal range and held the Cobras to 33.3 shooting.

The Jags struggled at the free-throw line with the team making 8-of-23 shots (34.8 percent) and Coker 82.4 percent (14-for-17). Augusta had 43 rebounds to Coker's 36 and scored 21 points off turnovers.

Coker was led by Kendra Lambert's 14 points and Iresha Cooper's 12 rebounds and five points.

The Cobras scored the first four points of the game, but Harris came in off the bench and hit a fade-away jumper from the left side to start the Jags offense. Harris tied the game with another basket and O'Conner made a high glass layup that she was fouled one for a three-point play.

The Jags led by six at one point in the first period, but Caitland Considine buried the first three pointer of the game to steal a 12-11 lead for Coker. With seconds dwindling in the first quarter, Outler connected from three-point land for the Jags' first trey and a 17-14 lead.

With just over a minute to play in the opening half, Outler outran the entire floor and scored back-to-back fast-break baskets for an 11-point advantage – the largest lead of the first half.

O'Conner found Outler for another three pointer to begin the second half that sparked Augusta to a safe lead. Augusta stayed ahead by double figures for the entire 10 minutes of the third period and Mallory Myers' layup put the team up by 20 with 2:01 to go in the third period.

Up 56-34 to start the final period, the Jags coasted to the finish line for a 76-52 win.

The Jaguars head to Carrollton, Ga., to take on West Georgia at 2:00 p.m. for a non-conference game. It is the first road game of the season for Augusta.
