Breonna O’Conner Named PBC Preseason All-Conference

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference released the 2016-17 Preseason All-Conference team from the league office in Augusta, Ga., on Tuesday afternoon and Augusta University senior Breonna O'Conner made the list. Also on the team are Columbus State's Ashley Asouzu, North Georgia's Kelsey Hutchins, and Lander's Ty'hesha Reynolds and Breshay Johnson.

O'Conner is only the second Augusta student-athlete to be named preseason All-Conference. Kariel Hutt earned the first award for the Jaguars as a senior in 2015-16.

The five-player preseason team was selected by the league's head coaches and features four different PBC schools. Lander was the only institution with two players on the squad. The 2016-17 season tips Nov. 22 for Augusta at home against Fort Valley State in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Breonna O'Conner (Ville Platte, La.) was named second-team All-Conference as a junior in her first season at Augusta University in 2015-16. Returning for her senior year, the 5-3 guard was named to the 2016 All-Tournament team at the NCAA Southeast Regionals after leading the Jaguars to the NCAA Regional Championship game.

O'Conner was fifth in the Peach Belt in scoring with 15.4 points per game; she was also fourth in total points and second in the league with 78 steals. She scored 20 or more points six times with a career-best 32 coming in the NCAA regional semifinals against Anderson.

The PBC preseason All-Conference award was first given in the 2007-08 season.
