Augusta Women’s Hoops Posts 2016-17 Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team revealed their new schedule for the approaching 2016-17 season, head coach Nate Teymer announced on Monday morning. The Augusta Jaguars host 14 of their 26 regular-season games in Christenberry Fieldhouse – the home of the Jaguars.

"I am looking forward to our upcoming season. We have a demanding schedule with some very admirable opponents," Teymer said. "We will have to come ready to play every time we step onto the floor. We are looking forward to giving Jaguar Nation something to cheer about."

Teymer tips off his seventh year as head coach with three straight home games. On Tuesday, Nov. 22 the Jags meet Fort Valley State in Christenberry for the season opener. Clark Atlanta comes to Augusta Nov. 27 and Coker on Nov. 29, before the Jags get their first experience on the road at West Georgia Dec. 2.

Augusta's first Saturday date of the season is on Dec. 10 at home against Benedict before Peach Belt Conference play starts.

The Jags begin PBC competition Dec. 16 at North Georgia and Dec. 19 at Columbus State. The squad returns home once more in 2016 to host Fayetteville State on Dec. 30.

Augusta brings in the New Year with a trip to UNC Pembroke Jan. 2 and they host Georgia Southwestern (Jan. 5) and Montevallo (Jan. 7) to round out the first week of January.

A trip to Clayton State on Jan. 9 and Georgia College on Jan. 14 is next for the Jags and they host two midweek games against Young Harris (Jan. 16) and Flagler (Jan. 18).

Peach Belt play rolls on with a few more road games until Augusta wraps up the month with rival USC Aiken in Christenberry Fieldhouse on Jan. 30.

The Jags host their annual Military Appreciation Day Saturday, Feb. 4 during the women's and men's doubleheader against UNC Pembroke at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Hundreds of Fort Gordon soldiers with fill the stands as we honor our armed forces.

Augusta hosts Francis Marion Feb. 8, Armstrong State Feb. 11, and Lander Feb. 18 to close out their regular-season home slate. The Feb. 11 game will serve as the Play4 Kay cancer awareness game to benefit the Georgia Cancer Center.

Augusta University will celebrate 2017 Homecoming Saturday, Feb. 18 for the women's and men's doubleheader against Lander at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Senior Day will also take place on Feb. 18 in between the women's and men's games.

The Peach Belt Conference Tournament begins Feb. 25 with the quarterfinal matchup and continues March 4-5. See format below. 

Women's & Men's Basketball

  • Quarterfinals - Feb. 25 hosted by the highest seed (cross-divisional)
  • Semifinals and Finals - March 4-5 at the site of the highest remaining women's east seed
  • Semifinal Saturday will begin with the PBC Spirit Competition at 9:30 am followed by the men's semifinals at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.  Women's semifinals will be at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm.
  • Men's championship game on Sunday at 2:00 pm with the women at 4:30 pm
  • The PBC enters the third year of the rotating format; the 2018 finals will be hosted by the highest remaining men's west seed
