Women’s Hoops Adds Hollingsworth

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State head women's basketball coach Nate Teymer announced Thursday that Tanchelle Hollingsworth has signed to play with the Lady Jaguars this fall.

Hollingsworth spent the last two seasons under head coach Ben Conrad running the point at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. The 5-1 incoming junior from Raytown, Missouri averaged 5.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while leading her team to a 32-3 record last season.

The Cavaliers advanced to the second round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Tournament in East Peoria, Ill. before falling to defending champion Monroe.

She enjoyed a productive freshman campaign that saw her average 8.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists a game while being named to the second-team NJCAA Division II All-American. She was also named a Region IV Division II first-team selection.

"Tanchelle is an explosive point guard that has the ability to make everyone around her better," Teymer said. "She is coming from an extremely well-coached program under Ben Conrad, and understands what it takes to be successful at the collegiate level."

Hollingsworth hails from Overland Park, Kansas, and will rejoin former teammate Becky Newhouse as a Jaguar. ASU returns all but one player from last season's team that enjoyed a four-win improvement and advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Quarterfinals.
