No. 13 Pacers Sprint Past ASU

AIKEN, S.C. -- Augusta State suffered its fifth straight loss Wednesday in a 62-33 setback at the hands of No. 13 USC Aiken in the Convocation Center.

With the loss, the Lady Jaguars slipped to 7-8 overall and 2-5 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Pacers, winners of 12 straight, improved to 13-1 on the season and an unblemished 6-0 in the league.

Not a single player reached double figures for ASU, which shot 26.5 percent for the game. The Lady Jags posted a season low in points scored and endured their second-worst shooting effort of the season. Senior Amber Peterson and juniors Eryka Menzies and Brittany White all netted six points each, while White snagged three steals.

USC Aiken sophomore forward Kayla Harris turned in 21 points and seven rebounds. Brittany Hill handed out seven assists and Tiffani Moody blocked three shots.

ASU led 8-4 early on before going over 5:00 without a basket. USC Aiken took advantage, rattling off a 27-9 spurt the rest of the way for a 31-17 halftime lead.

The Pacers then outscored ASU 14-2 to start the second half to open up a 45-19 advantage. USCA won the battle on the boards 44-30 and held the Lady Jags to just 21.4 percent shooting in the second half.

The Lady Jags wrap up their three-game road swing when they travel to Milledgeville on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to face Georgia College. Tip off is slated for 5:30 p.m., in the Centennial Center.
