Lady Jaguars Unveil Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State head women's basketball coach Nate Teymer has unveiled the 2011-12 schedule for his second year at the helm of the Lady Jaguar program.

ASU opens its 2011-12 campaign with Paine College on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m., in the annual matchup of cross-town rivals in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Lady Jags topped Paine 52-37 last December in Carter Gym.

ASU heads to Virginia State to play in the VSU Chick-Fil-A Classic on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26, and is slated to take on Elizabeth City State and Virginia State in the tournament.

The Lady Jags open their Peach Belt Conference schedule on the road, first at Francis Marion on Saturday, Dec. 3 and continuing on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Flagler. Six of ASU's first nine contests are on the road.

"We've put together a demanding schedule that will definitely challenge our student-athletes," said Teymer. "Anytime you play in a league like ours with so many quality teams, you've got to prepare them to play at a consistent and high level. We play in arguably the best Division II conference in the country, so we have to be ready when league play rolls around."

The Lady Jags open a four-game homestand beginning with Erskine on New Year's Eve at 2:00 p.m. ASU tips off 2012 with Armstrong Atlantic State on Wednesday, Jan. 4 in Christenberry Fieldhouse and hosts North Georgia and Lander on Saturday, Jan. 7 and Wednesday, Jan. 11, respectively.

The Lady Jags hit the road for the first of three straight on Saturday, Jan. 14, taking on defending National Champion Clayton State in Morrow, Ga.

ASU hosts Francis Marion for Homecoming on Saturday, Feb. 11, and battles USC Aiken on Senior Night in the Pink Zone Game for Breast Cancer Awareness on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The Peach Belt Conference Championships, hosted by Columbus State, are slated for Thursday-Sunday, March 1-4, in Columbus, Ga., at the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center.

Teymer was introduced as the eighth head coach of the Lady Jaguar program on April 1, 2010. He was named the 2009-10 NAIA National Coach Of The Year as the head coach at Southern Tech.

The 2011-12 ASU roster features 10 newcomers and five letterwinners from last season's squad that began the year 4-0 and finished the season 8-18 overall.
