#1 Nighthawks Narrowly Survive Jaguars

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team fell 4-0 and 1-0 to the No. 1 nationally-ranked North Georgia Nighthawks on Monday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference play.

 

GAME 1

The Jaguars (8-17, 2-5 PBC) were unable to produce hits on the Nighthawks (15-0, 3-0 PBC). AU allowed a run in the first inning and couldn't recover to fall 4-0.

On the mound, Mary Tillman (4-7) struck out four for Augusta, while allowing six hits for four runs. The Nighthawks totaled six hits and got 18 strikeouts from their starting pitcher.

 

GAME 2

Game 2 proved to be an even affair, with neither team scoring in the first 3 innings and only one score by North Georgia in the game.

Jakayla Sullivan, Olivia Biles, and Summer Frye were each 1-for-3 for the Jaguars.  

A solo homerun by North Georgia's Margaret Simmons was the only score in the game.  

Augusta pitcher Chloe Wilson (4-8) pitched a complete game on the mound, striking out 6 batters and only allowing 1 run.

 

After 5 away trips, AU Softball returns home to host Columbus State on Friday April 2nd at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Video and live stats will be available at augustajags.com.
