AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team begins its season on Saturday, Feb. 2 to kick off a three-series homestand at Jaguar Field.
Starting her 21st season, head coach Melissa Brocato announced the schedule earlier this semester. The schedule includes a total of 50 games with 28 home games scheduled at Jaguar Field.
The Jaguars begin the season with six consecutive home dates. AU plays a doubleheader against Catawba beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, and two more doubleheaders against Anderson (Feb. 9) and Wingate (Feb. 10) both starting at 1:00 p.m.
Coach Brocato added seven new players to the team for this season. They include six freshman and a junior transfer. Brocato says that she has recruited more speed from her new team members and thinks it will work well with their defense and on the bases.
