DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team fell 4-1 to No. 21 Georgia College on Friday afternoon in the first quarterfinal game of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.

Back in the postseason for the first time since 2015, seventh-seeded Augusta (17-34) ran into second-seeded and No. 21 nationally-ranked Georgia College (36-13) in the opening round of the event hosted by the North Georgia. AU outhit the Bobcats 8-6 in their last game of the season.

The game was scoreless for the first two and a half innings, until the Bobcats booked two runs in the bottom of the third on an infield single and a bases-loaded walk. They added two more in the sixth inning to lead 4-0.

Augusta loaded the bases in the top of the sixth, but couldn't scratch across a run. Down to their final at bat, the Jaguars got on the board when senior Ashley Boyd belted a solo home run to left field in the seventh. The Jags left 11 runners on base and went on to fall by three runs.

AU seniors Kendyl Conner and Marni Greenstein each had two hits, while Boyd was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Seniors Lindsey Stokes and Carolyn Edwards and freshman Regan Norfleet all added a hit for the Jaguars as well.

Jags sophomore Morgan Hunter (11-18) made her 14th start on the mound and pitched six innings. She struck out four batters and had allowed four runs on seven hits.
