No. 2 North Georgia Pitches Past Jaguars In Twin Bill

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team dropped a pair of Peach Belt Conference games to the No. 2 North Georgia Nighthawks on Saturday afternoon at Hill Stadium.

 

Ranked second in the nation and leading the Peach Belt, North Georgia (36-1, 8-0 PBC) won game one 6-0 and took the second 4-0 to push its winning streak to 13 games. UNG pitcher Kylee Smith pitched a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts in game one.

 

AU sophomore Morgan Hunter (7-9) got the game-one loss in 3.1 innings and surrendered nine hits for six runs with a strikeout. Courtney Browne pitched in relief for the Jags and held the Nighthawks to two hits with three strikeouts.

 

In the second meeting, the Jaguars compiled three hits, but were held scoreless again. Browne (2-8) and sophomore Jada Jackson each pitched three innings for Augusta in game two, while seniors Lindsey Stokes, Auburn Balcorta, and Ashely Boyd each had a hit.

 

Augusta plays at Young Harris on Sunday, March 25 for a 1:00 p.m. PBC doubleheader in Young Harris, Ga.
