ANDERSON, S.C. – The Augusta University softball team traveled to Anderson University on Thursday afternoon and dropped a pair of non-conference games to the Trojans 5-2 and 11-3 at the AU Softball Complex.

Augusta (17-30) and Anderson (30-13) were originally scheduled to meet in late February, but inclement weather forced several postponements to the battle of the AU's.

Augusta ends the regular season on Saturday, April 21 with a 12:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

GAME 1

Anderson plated three runs in its first at bat of the first game and never looked back to win a 5-2 game. The Jaguars scored one in the third and sixth, but couldn't overcome three errors.

Augusta sophomore Morgan Hunter (11-16) tossed six innings and struck out four, but allowed eight hits for five runs. The Jags had half as many hits as the Trojans with four. Senior trio Lindsey Stokes, Carolyn Edwards, Marni Greenstein, and freshman Regan Norfleet all recorded one in the game.

GAME 2

Anderson's offense came out early and stayed late, taking a 5-0 lead after the second inning and adding six in the fifth to win 11-3 in five innings.

Augusta senior Kendyl Conner put her team on the board with a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning. Norfleet scored on a wild pitch in the fifth and Edwards followed with a single to make it 5-3, but the Trojans took over in the sixth.

Courtney Browne (4-10) pitched for the Jags and got the loss in 4.2 innings of action – allowing 10 hits for 11 runs, but only five were earned as AU committed five more errors.
