CATAWBA, N.C. – The Augusta University softball team begins its 2018 campaign this Saturday, Feb. 3 with a non-conference doubleheader at Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Whitley Softball Field.

Augusta has played Catawba for six straight seasons and are 5-4 against the Indians dating back to 2013. Last season, Augusta opened the year by sweeping Catawba at home on Jaguar Field.

The Jaguars return 12 players and have eight new student-athletes for the 2018 spring season that begins Saturday. Four of AU's top-five hitters from last season return in senior Lindsey Stokes, sophomore's Lydia Hausman and Courtney Browne, and junior Kelsea Hunter. On the mound, the Jags also return their top-two pitchers with sophomore's Morgan Hunter and Browne back to start for Augusta.

Now in her 20th year at the helm of the Augusta Jaguars softball program, head coach Melissa Brocato sports a 495-478-1 (.508) overall career record and returns to the diamond for 50 total games and 22 home contests at Jaguar Field in the 2018 season. Admission is free to all home softball games at Jaguar Field! All dates are doubleheaders excluding tournament play.
