AUGUSTA, Ga. – Now in her 20th year at the helm of the Augusta Jaguars softball program, head coach Melissa Brocato has unveiled the 2018 schedule that features 50 total games and 22 home contests at Jaguar Field.

"We're are looking forward to the start of a new season," Brocato said. "We have great competition in the southeast region and in the Peach Belt (Conference), so we are excited to have a heavy regional schedule again this year. We have some familiar opponents and some new regional opponents on the schedule. We value our community and family support and hope to see many fans on the hill this spring."

The Augusta softball team returns 12 players and has eight new student-athletes for the 2018 spring season that begins in February. Admission is free to all home softball games at Jaguar Field! All dates are doubleheaders excluding tournament play.

The Jaguars start the season Feb. 3 on the road at Catawba in Catawba, N.C., and host Erskine on Feb. 8 for the 2018 home opener at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Augusta plays four more non-conference away dates in February and they host Coker on Feb. 13 for their final home games of the month.

For the fifth consecutive season, AU heads to the Mid-South Classic in Spartanburg, S.C., for a two day non-conference tournament Feb. 23-24 at Tyger River Stadium. Opponents are still to be announced.

The month of March starts with Augusta hosting Queens on March 3, before beginning Peach Belt Conference competition with a March 10-11 road trip to Francis Marion and UNC Pembroke.

AU returns to Jaguar Field for its longest home stand of 2018 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne (March 14), Georgia Southwestern (March 17), Columbus State (March 18), and Claflin (March 21). After two trips in the PBC to North Georgia on March 24 and Young Harris on March 25, the Jags host three more in a row with Emmanuel (April 3), Lander (April 7), and USC Aiken (April 8).

Flagler visits Augusta for the Jags' final home game of the year on April 15, before heading to Georgia College to wrap the regular-season March 21.

The 2018 PBC Tournament will take place May 4-5 on the campus of the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga.
