Diamond Jaguars Split At Rival USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. – The Augusta University softball team split a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at USC Aiken on Friday night, falling 11-1 in game one and taking the second 2-1 in comeback fashion.

 

Augusta's record moves to 8-38 on the year and 3-15 in the Peach Belt, while USCA is now 20-20-1 and 7-13 in the league.

 

After dropping game one 11-1, the Jaguars responded with a one-run victory over USCA. Aiken took the first lead in the third inning of game two, but Augusta put up two in the sixth.

 

Senior Erin Rozier scored sophomore Alex Head on a sacrifice fly and sophomore Kelsea Hunter plated sophomore Lydia Hausman for a the two-run swing.

 

Jags starter Kristen Mills (2-18) pitched a complete game and struck out four. The senior allowed seven hits for one run, while USCA's Hannah Price (1-2) went five innings to get the loss.

 

The Jaguars host 2017 Senior Day on Sunday, April 9 during the 1:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against the Lander Bearcats at Jaguar Field. The games mark the final competition at home for the Jaguars this season.
