Augusta Softball Concludes Season With Two Losses At Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta University softball team concluded its 2017 season on Saturday afternoon with a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Flagler University. The Jaguars dropped game one 7-0 and fell 12-8 in the second contest.

 

Augusta finishes the season 9-43 overall and 4-20 in the PBC, while Flagler improved to 35-18 and 18-6 in the conference.

 

The Saints knocked 12 hits to Augusta's two in the first meeting. Sophomore Kelsea Hunter and senior Erin Rozier turned in a hit each for the Jags and Flagler's Alli-Ann Bigale and Garland Evans each had three hits.

 

AU freshman Morgan Hunter (4-18) pitched 4.1 innings in the last start of her rookie season and struck out two while allowing nine hits for seven runs. Sophomore Emily Hittinger pitched 1.2 innings and held the Saints to three hits.

 

Katelynn Smith (8-7) got the win for Flagler and struck out three in the shut-out win.

 

In the second meeting, Augusta scored two runs in the first inning, but Flagler responded to tie the game with two in their first at bat and added four in the second. They led the rest of the game and downed the Jags 12-8.

 

AU junior Marni Greenstein went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs and Rozier and Lydia Hausman carded two hits each for the Jaguars.

 

Senior Kristen Mills pitched 2.1 innings for Augusta and surrendered nine hits for eight runs, before freshman Courtney Browne pitched 3.2 innings.

 

Flagler's Callie Reed pitched four innings in the start and gave up nine hits for seven runs.
