Jags Softball Drops Doubleheader To Montevallo Falcons On The Road

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Augusta Jaguars hit the road for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Montevallo and fell 7-2 and 4-2 on Sunday at Orr Park.

 

The Jaguars move to 7-37 on the year and are now 2-14in the Peach Belt, while the Falcons are 17-17 overall and 6-7 in the league.


AU went to freshman Morgan Hunter (4-14) in game one. She went six innings to allow nine hits for seven runs (five earned) and struck out three. The Jags had five total hits with sophomore Kelsea Hunter leading the way with a 2-3 day.

 

Montevallo's Jocelyn Rivera (10-6) pitched a complete game and struck out six in the first game. Mariel Bertossi and Lady Sarah Federico each had two hits for the Falcons.

 

AU made it a one-run game in the third inning, but Montevallo put up two in the third and fifth to hang on for the game-one win.

 

Augusta freshman Courtney Browne booked her seventh start of the year and faced three batters before senior Kristen Mills came in. Mills (1-8) tossed 5.1 innings and allowed seven hits for four runs.

 

Jags sophomore Lydia Hausman was 2-3 in game two with an RBI.

 

Augusta plays at USC Aiken on Friday, April 7 for a 4:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference.
