Augsuta Softball Hosts 24 Games In 2017 Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head softball coach Melissa Brocato announced the 2017 softball schedule on Thursday that features 24 home games on Jaguar Field and 52 total events.

The Augusta softball team returns 12 players and has six new signees for the 2017 spring season that begins in February. Admission is free to all home softball games at Jaguar Field.

Augusta hosts six games to open the season Feb. 4-5 at Jaguar Field. The Jaguars take on Catawba and West Georgia on Saturday and Sunday for back-to-back doubleheaders. Augusta also hosts Catawba vs. West Georgia on Saturday and Sunday in the non-conference event.

After a trip to Coker College, the Jags face Anderson at home for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, Nov. 12. For the third-consecutive season, the squad competes in the Catawba Tournament in Salisbury, N.C., from Feb. 17-18 to take on Lenoir-Rhyne, Millersville, Mount Olive, and Pfeiffer.

Wingate visits Augusta for a pair of non-conference games on Feb. 22 and the Jags conclude the month of February with their fourth-straight appearance at the Mid-South Classic in Spartanburg, S.C.

Peach Belt Conference play opens the month of March for the Jags. The team hosts Georgia College March 4 for their first league contest. Augusta enjoys a three-game home stint in mid-March by hosting UNC Pembroke (March 11), Carson Newman (March 13), and Newberry (March 15). 

The team plays their first PBC games on the road March 18 at Georgia Southwestern and March 19 at Columbus State before coming back home to meet Young Harris (March 25), North Georgia (March 26), and Francis Marion (March 29). Four of the last five dates of regular-season competition are on the road. Augusta hosts Lander April 9 for the final games of the season at Jaguar Field.

The PBC Tournament is hosted by Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga., April 21-22.
