Softball To Participate in Day of Service Sept. 24

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University hosts the Day of Service on Saturday, Sept. 24 and numerous Jaguars Athletics teams are participating in the event and serving the community through volunteer service. Softball will play kickball with the special needs children with the Miracle League of Augusta. The team will be on Freedom Way, behind the VA Hospital on Wrightsboro Road from 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Last year, hundreds and hundreds of volunteers contributed their time and services to help those in need at locations throughout Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken counties.

Day of Service was introduced in 2011, when 261 volunteers contributed more than 800 hours with local nonprofit organizations. Augusta employees, students and their families give to their community through volunteering and serving those in need.

Augusta University is hosting a barbeque and a Straight A Jazz concert starting at 5:30 p.m. on the Day of Service afternoon at the D. Douglas Barnard Jr. Amphitheatre. Admission to the barbeque and Straight A Jazz requires a wristband, which will be distributed with the Day of Service T-shirts on Wednesday, September 21 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Registration for faculty, staff & students will open Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Deadline to sign-up is Thursday, September 22.
