ASU Receives NCAA At-Large Nod

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The NCAA announced Augusta State's softball squad received an at-large bid into the NCAA Southeast Regional as the No. 4 seed in their annual selection show Monday.

ASU faces Peach Belt Conference tournament champion Columbus State in the first round. The teams split their only meeting of the season in Augusta, as Emily Headrick outdueled CSU ace Mollie Russell in a tightly-contested 4-2 opening win before another on-the-mound battle went Columbus' way, 2-1 in the nightcap.

It marks the fourth straight year the Jaguars will play in the regional under head coach Melissa Mullins, and fifth in the past six seasons. ASU boasts three All-PBC players in Kacee Camp, Jessica Thornton, and Headrick that look to earn Augusta State's first super regional appearance.

North Georgia and Armstrong Atlantic are the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively, and will each host half of the regional. The winners of each half play in a three-game super regional, with the winner advancing to the NCAA College World Series in Louisville, Kentucky.
