DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Augusta State ran into a pair of dominant pitching efforts from North Georgia Saturday afternoon as the No. 13 Saints registered a Peach Belt Conference sweep at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium.

North Georgia's Jessica Coan (21-6) shut down the No. 19 Jaguars, striking out 11 ASU batters and allowing just four hits and a walk in a 2-0 win in game one.

In a battle of two of the PBC's top aces, Coan outduelled ASU senior Emily Headrick, who finished with two earned runs on five hits allowed.

In game two, the Saints came away with an 8-0 shutout win in five innings over the Jags.

Melissa Dickie (11-0) was outstanding for North Georgia, going five innings and surrendering just one hit. Dickie struck out three batters and shutdown Augusta State (28-12, 9-5 PBC).

The doubleheader was the Saints annual Cancer Awareness and Family Day. Cancer survivors and those who wanted to pay tribute any affected by the disease were brought onto the field in between games in an emotional ceremony.

The Jags are back in action next weekend when they host Flagler in a conference twinbill on Saturday, April 14 at 12:00 p.m.
