Jaguars Split At Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Lander scored three runs in the fourth inning Sunday afternoon to break a 1-all tie and earn a split of a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with Augusta State at Doug Spears Field.

In game one, ASU racked up 15 hits and registered an 8-0 win over the Bearcats in six innings.

Jaguar senior shortstop Kacee Camp went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI and runs scored. Senior catcher Renae Kimbell went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Lauren Yeargan and Molly Walton also had two hits each.

Senior hurler Emily Headrick improved to 14-2 on the season while allowing just three hits in 5.0 innings. She struck out five before Heather Sexton closed out the game with an inning of relief, fanning two of the three batters she faced.

Lander never trailed in game two, limiting ASU to just four hits. Heather Hughes (9-3) was charged with the loss, surrendering eight hits and four earned runs in 3.2 innings. Headrick worked the last 2.1 innings, allowing just one hit.

The Jags (28-8, 9-3 PBC) host Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m., at Jaguar Field.
