ASU Softball Moves Up Nationally

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta State softball squad improved five spots in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association top-25 poll, checking in at No. 15 in the latest edition released Wednesday.

The Jaguars went 4-0 last week, notching 3-2 and 8-0 victories over Carson-Newman before taking down Francis Marion 7-1 and 2-0 in Peach Belt Conference play. ASU pitching has been a big story, as opponents have been held to two or less runs in 10 of the previous 11 contests.

ASU remains the third PBC team in the poll, behind North Georgia (eighth) and Armstrong Atlantic (10th). Flagler and Columbus State also received votes in the poll.

Valdosta State took over the top spot, moving up one spot while receiving 11 of the 15 first-place votes. Indianapolis, Winona State, Barry, and Angelo State round out the top five.

The Jaguars head to Lander for a PBC set Sunday, April 1 beginning at 4:00 p.m. before playing host to No. 26 Lenior-Rhyne Tuesday, April 3 at Jaguar Field with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
