ASU Nabs Split On Day Two

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Augusta State rebounded from a tough 7-6 loss versus No. 11 Rollins with a 6-3 win over Delta State in day two of the Charger Chillout hosted by Alabama-Huntsville Saturday.

In the first game, ASU led 6-5 heading to the final inning, but a Rollins rally stole the victory away.

The Jaguars used a five-run third inning, highlighted by Kacee Camp's solo shot to start things off, to jump on the lead early before the Tars slowly made a comeback.

Jessica Thornton, Molly Walton, and Kristen Jones all contributed a hit to the Jaguar attack.

In game two, freshman Heather Sexton went the full seven innings in her first collegiate start, notching her second win of the year. She struck out three while giving up just four hits.

The Jaguars never trailed in the game, and scored two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh for a comfortable final margin.

Camp led Augusta State with five hits on the day, driving in three runs in the win to go with her homer earlier in the day. Jessica Thornton went 2-for-4 in the win.

Due to inclement weather concerns, tomorrow's games against No. 26 Indianapolis and Maryville have been pushed back an hour; ASU is currently scheduled to play at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
