Jags Finalize Softball Slate

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State Softball program will go for its fourth straight 30-win season when the Jaguars open their 2012 schedule in early February. Head coach Melissa Mullins officially released ASU's schedule on Tuesday.

The Jaguars tallied a 35-20 record in 2011 and finished fifth in the Peach Belt Conference. They made their fourth NCAA Regional appearance in the last five seasons and finished just one win shy of their first-ever trip to the NCAA Super Regional.

"Each year we try to have a quality schedule against regional competition," Mullins said. "We know how tough our Peach Belt Conference competition is and we want to keep our non-conference games at that same level. We have a very talented and diverse team and we're hoping for nothing less than a PBC Championship and another NCAA appearance."

ASU kicks off its 2012 slate in Columbus, Ga., on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11 at the Houston Sports Clinic Classic with games against West Alabama, Lenior-Rhyne, and Columbus State.

The Jags host Erskine in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Feb. 15th in their home opener at 2:00 p.m., before hitting the road for 11 straight away matchups, including the Charger Chillout hosted by Alabama-Huntsville and the Pioneer Classic hosted by Tusculum.

ASU opens conference play in a doubleheader on the road at UNC Pembroke on March 10 before welcoming Georgia Southwestern on Monday, March 12 for their home conference opener.

The Jags play at league rival USC Aiken on Wednesday, April 4 before hosting Flagler for Senior Day on Saturday, April 14.
