Jaguars Earn Second Place Finish at Southeast Regionals

Wingate, N.C. - The #24 Augusta University Men's Cross Country team finished second at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meet this morning. The Jags just barely missed out on the region title to Queens, who posted a score of 43 to Augusta's 47. All three teams from the Southeast region who had earned national rankings prior to the meet earned automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships, with #18 Queens taking first, #24 Augusta taking second, and #15 Mount Olive taking third place.

Jacob Poston was the top runner for Augusta, posting a 31:05.5 time for the 10k race en-route to a second place individual finish. Chas Kennedy wasn't very far behind Poston, as he finished in fourth with a finishing time of 31:19.5. Chandler Kennedy also earned a top ten finish for the Jags, coming in at 31:31.3 for an eighth place finish. Hunter Kimbal had an excellent outing as well, aiding his squads second place finish with a 14th individual performance at 31:57.6, while Jacob Burgamy earned a top 25 finish on the event coming in a 20th with a time of 32:18.7. Also finishing in the top 25 for the team was Hans Troyer, whose time of 32:28.8 earned him 24th place for the meet. The last Jaguar to cross the finish line was Kai Brickey, who just came in at 26th overall with a time of 32:37.1

All in all, Augusta had three finishers in the top 10, with three more landing in the top 25 for another outstanding performance for Coach Adam Ward's team.

With their second place finish, the Jaguars have earned the automatic bid to participate in the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sacramento, California on November 23rd.
