The Jaguars are Champions

Pembroke, N.C. – The Augusta University Men's Cross Country team won the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Championship today. This is the squad's fourth conference title in eight years under head coach Adam Ward. "I'd like to say this win for the men is a shining example of what we have built here at AU. We don't have what most programs do, but they work harder and are dedicated to excellence. They represent the best of AU and deserve all this recognition", Ward said after the victory.

To say the Jaguars' outing was a dominant one would be an understatement. All seven Jaguar runners placed in the top 10 for the championships, with Jacob Poston finishing in third place as the top finisher for the squad with a time of 24:56.05. Chase Kennedy came in fifth place for Augusta with a time of 25:09.69, while Chandler Kennedy tooks sixth at 25:24.31. Hunter Kimball finished at seventh, as Jacob Burgamy rounded out the scoring for the team in eighth. Not to be left out for the outstanding performance were Kai Brickey and Hans Troyer, who each finished in ninth and 10th place respectively, to show that Augusta Cross Country was a force to be reckoned with today.

Overall, the Jags won the title with a score of 29, followed by Flagler as the runner-up with a score of 56. Host UNC Pembroke rounded out the top three teams for the meet with a score of 67 with their runner Joshua Chepkesir winning the individual title.

The team heads off to Wingate, N.C. for the NCAA Southeast Regional (hosted by Wingate) on Saturday, November 9th.
