Jags Earn Third Place Finish at Bulldog Stampede

Wingate, N.C. – The Augusta Jaguars men's cross country turned in a solid performance at Wingate University's Bulldog Stampede (8K) this morning. The third ranked team in the region finished in third place as a team with Anthony Urmetz was the top Jag runner, finishing in ninth, with a time of 26:26:58.

Augusta was the top team out of the four Peach Belt squads competing, with Columbus State finishing sixth, UNC Pembroke finishing ninth, and Francis Marion finishing at 13th in the field of 19

Head coach Adam Ward decided to rest his top seven runners for this meet, making their third place finish all the more impressive.

"Our second men's group ran very well today for a group of freshmen and sophomores. They tackled the course with poise and determination to represent the "A" with pride. It says a lot about the future of our program when you can hold out your potential top 7 runners and still be top 3 at a meet", Ward said when asked to comment on their performance.

Rakeem Littles finished in the top 25 with a 14th place finish on the day, while Chris Shelp earned a finish at 22nd. Just making it in with Littles and Shelp was Josh Seiden who finished 25th. Ryan Gallagher finished out the day in 31st place to round out the top 5 finishers for Augusta.

The Jags will be in action next on Friday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. for the Queens City Invite (8K) hosted by the top team in the region, Queens.
