Augusta MXC Takes Third At Bobcat Invitational

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Augusta University men's cross country team took third place on Saturday morning at the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Georgia College, at the Council Farm Course.

 

 

UNC Pembroke won the team race with 59 points, Alabama-Huntsville finished second with 71 points, Augusta third with 80 points, Montevallo fourth with 106 points, and Tampa rounded out the top-five teams with 110 points in the 15-team field.

 

Augusta has finished top three in every regular-season race of 2018 and is gearing up for the postseason. Augusta hosts the Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Redcliffe Plantation in Beech Island, S.C. The men run an 8K at 9:00 a.m. and the women follow with a 5K at 10:15 a.m.

 

AU sophomore Jacob Poston led the team and placed fourth overall in 25:06.07. Poston has led the Jaguars in every race this season. Also finishing inside the top 10 for Augusta was senior Noah Hulett who took sixth in 25:16.0 and sophomore hunter Kimball who earned ninth in 25:24.7.

 

Freshman Rakeem Littles crossed the line next for the Jags to take 28th in 26:19.7, sophomore Chandler Kennedy fought for 35th in 26:27.4, and freshman Josh Seiden notched 40th with a time of 26:34.3. Rounding out Augusta were five freshmen with Kai Brickey taking 47th, Hans Troyer 50th, Chris Shelp 56th, Jacob Brenneman 60th, Ryan Gallagher 64th, Anthony Urmetz 66th, Dalton Ard 125th, and Chris Strickland 145th.
