Augusta Wins North Georgia Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Augusta University men's cross country team won its second race this season with a victory at the North Georgia Cross Country Invitational. It is the second team win in back-to-back weekends and the seventh in the last two years.

 

Augusta got its first look of the season at the regional course as the Nighthawks host the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional as well on Saturday, Nov. 17. AU edged out UNC Pembroke for the top spot by one point, with Anderson finishing third, Columbus State fourth, and Tusculum fifth in the 11-team race.

 

Augusta had eight runners finish inside the top 30. Sophomore Jacob Poston continued his dominant pace for AU and led the team for the third time this year, taking third overall in 25:38.94. Senior Noah Hulett shined in fifth place (25:57.28), Hunter Kimball in seventh (26:04.41), and Chandler Kennedy in 14th (26:47.80) to highlight the Jags in the top 15.

 

Freshmen Jacob Brenneman and Hans Troyer placed next for AU in 16th and 17th, while Joshua Seiden (25th), Rakeem Littles (29th), Anthony Urmetz (32nd), Kai Brickey (33rd), Chris Shelp (37th), Ryan Gallagher (46th), and Chris Strickland (91st) rounded out the team.

 

The Jaguars head to Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga., for the Bobcat Invitational Saturday, Oct. 20. The women race a 6K and the men an 8K.
