Jacob Poston Named PBC Runner Of The Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University men's cross country sophomore Jacob Poston has been named the Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday morning. 

 

Poston had a pair of top-five finishes, including a win, in the first two races of the season. The sophomore from Dawsonville, Ga., finished fifth at the UGA Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 8, covering the 7.6k course in 24:34.0. The four-team field was Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State and Augusta and featured 59 runners. Poston finished 14 seconds out of the lead.

 

He returned for the Jaguar Invitational Sept. 22 at Redcliffe Plantation, dominating the field with a time of 25:21.2 on the 8k course to pick up the win. He was 18 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor and now has the fastest 8k time in the Peach Belt this season. The Jaguars also host the PBC Championships at Redcliffe Nov. 3.

 

This is the 10th PBC Runner of the Week award for Augusta men's cross country. Next up, AU heads to the North Georgia Invitational Sept. 29 in Gainesville, Ga., to get a preview of the regional course.
