BEECH ISLAND, S.C. – The Augusta University men's cross country team hosted the 2018 Jaguar Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning at Redcliffe Plantation. Augusta won the race for the straight season, while AU sophomore Jacob Poston pummeled the competition to win first individually.

Ranked third in the NCAA Southeast Region and voted first in the Peach Belt Conference preseason poll, the Jaguars were in overdrive this Saturday morning, defending their home course with very strong performances overall. The men placed first individually and as a team, with sophomore Jacob Poston running away with the field and winning the race with a time of 25:21.

Jags sophomore Hunter Kimball finished second overall, with senior Noah Hulett tagging close behind in third. Freshmen Jacob Brenneman and Chandler Kennedy placed fifth and sixth, respectively. The tight grouping at the very front of the pack earned the men's team a score of 17, just two points shy of a perfect score.

The razor sharp competitive edge of the team does not stop there, however. Freshmen Rakeem Littles, Kai Brickley, Hans Troyer, Josh Seiden, Chris Shelp, Anthony Urmetz, and Ryan Gallagher all finished within the top 25.

AU heads to the North Georgia Invitational Sept. 29 in Gainesville, Ga., to get a preview of the regional course.
