Men’s Cross Country Team Gains Six New Freshmen For 2018

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's cross country team is gaining six new freshmen for the 2018 season. Head coach Adam Ward has announced the signing of Jacob Brenneman, Kai Brickey, Rakeem Littles, Joshua Seiden, Hans Troyer, and Anthony Urmetz.

The new signees will join the returning Jaguars, who are fresh off a 2017 Peach Belt Conference Championship and a trip to the NCAA National Championships.

 

"On the men's side, lone senior Noah Hulett will look to lead the men to their second championship in a row and another trip to the NCAAs," Ward said. "He will be helped by standout freshmen, now sophomores, Hunter Kimball and Jacob Poston. They will be joined by Chandler Kennedy coming off a redshirt year. We have eight new faces joining those guys this fall and this is a strong recruiting class. Each young man has high hopes of continuing the Jaguar tradition as one of the top teams in the conference and region. We expect great things from this group."

 

Jacob Brenneman is an incoming freshman from Pope High School in Marietta, Ga. He graduated in 2018 and lettered in three sports, including cross country for all four years. Brenneman won the Positive Athlete Award in 2016-17 and was the team's captain in 2018.

 

Kai Brickey graduated this year from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga., where he was an honor student and four-year letterman in cross country and track and field. Brickey was named All-County in 2017 and the Most Valuable Performer in 2018. He plans to study psychology at Augusta University.

 

Rakeem Littles is joining the Jaguars after graduating in 2018 from Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Ga. An honor student, Littles lettered in three sports and shined in cross country. He was named All-State in 2017 and the Athlete of the Year in 2018. He plans to major in marketing at AU.

 

Joshua Seiden will join the Jags as a freshman after graduating this year from Pope High School in Marietta, Ga. He lettered in cross country all four years and was named All-County in 2018. He plans to study exercise science during his tenure.

 

Hans Troyer is an incoming freshman from Newnan, Ga. where he attended Trinity Christian School. He graduated in 2018 after lettering in cross country and track and field. He was the team captain and Team MVP in 2017 and 2018.

 

Anthony Urmetz graduated from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga. this year. He lettered in both cross country and track and field and was named a two-time Most Improved and Most Valuable Player. Urmetz received the Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle Award and plans to study chemistry.

 

These new signees will join the five returning runners for the 2018 cross country season. Watch the Jaguars race this year beginning in September.
