EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Augusta Jaguars will make their second appearance in school history at the NCAA Championships in Evansville, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 18 after taking third at regionals to automatically qualify. The event is hosted by the University of Southern Indiana and the Evansville Sports Corporation at Angel Mounds State Park.

The top three teams from each regional meet automatically advanced to the finals for a total of 24 teams. The top two individuals not on a qualifying team also advanced for a total of 16. The men's 10K race is at 10:30 a.m. EST.
The Jaguars, led by eight-time Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year Adam Ward, won all four regular-season meets, took home the PBC Championship title, and placed third at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
"The NCAA Championships is often the culmination of not just a season's hard work and effort, but months and years in some cases," Augusta head coach Adam Ward said. "Our men told me their goals from day one: win conference and qualify for the NCAAs. The third one has yet to come to pass, but we will see how well we do at the meet on the 18th."
Augusta entered the regional race No. 6 in the NCAA Southeast Region rankings, and fresh off a Peach Belt Conference Championship – their fifth win of the season. Junior Daniel Broadhead finished the regional seventh overall (31:55.14) – his sixth top-10 finish of the season. Broadhead has led the Jags in every race in 2017.
Senior Dylan Forester fought for 11th overall in 32:22.14, junior Noah Hulett came in 13th in 32:39.17, and freshman Hunter Kimball placed just outside the top 20 in 21st (32:55.51). Freshman Jacob Poston placed 27th (33:20.37), and senior Josh Thompson 55th (34:27.98) to round out AU. Broadhead, Forester, Hulett, and Kimball earned All-Region honors for finishing in the top 25.
"This doesn't happen without talented freshmen buying into our philosophy from the beginning, senior leadership, and consistent veteran efforts in our top five. I really cannot say enough about how hard these young men have worked to represent this university every day with class and dedication. I know they are looking forward to competing against the nation's best come next weekend."
