AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head men's and women's cross country coach Adam Ward has announced the 2017 Jaguar cross country schedule.

"This fall we look forward to great results from both teams," Ward said. "Coming off of last year with both teams finishing third in the (Peach Belt Conference) championships, then seventh for the women and fourth for the men at NCAA regionals, we are expecting more. We have had an amazing recruiting year and expect these new young men and women to be great contributors for years to come. Our schedule is geared towards achieving the goals the student-athletes have set for themselves. I believe Jaguar fans will be quite pleased with both programs this fall."

Augusta kicks off the season by traveling to Spartanburg, S.C., where the team competes in the Eye Opener Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Sept. 1. The men run a season-opening 8K and the women follow with a 5K at USC Upstate's home meet.

The following weekend Augusta hosts the annual Jaguar Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Episcopal Day School's Flowing Wells Campus in Augusta, Ga. The meet is set to start at 8:15 a.m. with the women running a 5K followed by the men's 8K. Both the Jaguar men's and women's teams look to repeat at their home event after each winning in 2016.

After a week break from competition, the Jags head to North Carolina for the weekend. Augusta competes in the Wingate Bulldog Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 23 in Wingate, N.C. This will be the first 10K for the men and the first 6K for the women. The following weekend, Augusta travels to Milledgeville, Ga., for the Georgia College Bobcat Invitational on Friday, Oct. 6.

The Peach Belt Conference Championships are set to start Oct. 21 in Columbus, Ga., hosted by Columbus State. The men race a 10K and the women will run a 6K. The Jags both earned third at the 2016 PBC Championships.

The Wingate Bulldogs will host the NCAA Southeast Regional this year on Saturday, Nov. 4 and the NCAA Championships will be held in Evansville, Ind., on Nov. 18.
