Jaguars Headed To Southeast Regional

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State cross country teams will travel to McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C. for the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 3 for the men's 10K and women's 6K.

McApline Park is serving as the host site for the second consecutive year, where the ASU men's and women's teams both earned sixth-place finishes at the 2011 regionals.

The Lady Jaguars will send two runners -- junior Alicia Connolly and sophomore Jessica Carpenter -- to this year's 6K race. Connolly will look to repeat her success from last year's regionals, as she paced the Jaguars to a 23rd overall finish, earning her All-Southeast Regional honors.

Carpenter, who placed in the top-50 at last year's regionals, is coming off a team-leading 14th-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference Championships. Both Carpenter and Connolly improved their PBC Championship times from 2011.

The men's team returns as runnerup in the PBC Championships, nearly pulling a first-place repeat from 2011. ASU will send seven to the 10K, including juniors Dustin Ross and Jaiden Brandt.

Ross was named to the All-Southeast Regional squad with his top-25 finish in 2011. Brandt and Ross finished first and second for the Jags in the PBC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Montevallo, Ala., with both men improving their 2011 finish times.
