ASU Takes Second In Jaguar Invite

EVANS, Ga. – Georgia State claimed both the women's and men's races Friday afternoon in the Jaguar Invitational at Blanchard Woods Park.

The Georgia State women registered a perfect score in the 6K event for the second straight year, with Katharine Showalter posting a winning time of 23:09.52. The Panthers claimed the top six spots, while Augusta State's Jessica Carpenter was seventh at 25:13.02. Beset by injuries, three Lady Jaguars ran unattached.

In the men's 8K race, Georgia State's Austin Boetje (25:29.87) broke the tape nearly 10 seconds ahead of Augusta State's Jaiden Brandt (25:39.71) to claim the men's title. With five finishes in the top 12, the Panthers outpointed ASU 25-38. The Jaguars had four top 10 finishes of their own, including Dustin Ross (sixth), Jordan Herbert (seventh) and Josh Stockton (10th).

ASU returns to action in two weeks when it competes at the Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Montevallo, Ala.
