ASU To Host Jaguar Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta State women's and men's cross country programs will host the Jaguar Invitational on Friday, Oct. 5 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.

The women's 6K race will get underway at 5:15 p.m., with the men's 8K event expected to start at 5:45. Three Division I squads and Peach Belt Conference newcomer Young Harris are among a field that includes Armstrong Atlantic State, Augusta State, Benedict, Brewton Parker, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Morris, South Carolina State, West Georgia and USC Aiken.

Paced by a second-place effort from then-sophomore Dustin Ross, the Jaguars edged Georgia State for the men's title in 2011, while the Georgia State women finished in the top eight positions to easily claim the victory over Augusta State.

With two weeks remaining before the conference championships, the ASU men's squad is ranked fourth in the most recent NCAA Southeast Region poll and coming off a victory two weekends ago in Montevallo, Ala., at the Falcon Classic.

Ross captured the individual title as well with a mark of 25:55.98 and, for his efforts, earned PBC Runner of the Week honors on Monday, Sept. 24.
