MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Augusta State junior Dustin Ross raced to an individual title and led the Jaguars to victory Saturday at the Falcon Classic, hosted by Montevallo.
Ross posted an 8K time of 25:55.98 and was one of seven Jaguars to finish among the top 20. Jaiden Brandt (26:07.79) took third and Jordan Herbert (26:56.58) crossed the line in eighth.
In the women's 6K race, Jessica Carpenter paced the Lady Jaguars with a 14th-place finish (24:31.58) and Ashley Smith was 17th (24:55.91). ASU took fifth place out of 10 teams in the field.
"Today (Saturday) was a great race for both teams," said ASU head coach Adam Ward. "The course was fair and it's always good to preview the conference course. We still have some work to do, but I think we look good going in to the postseason."
ASU returns to action on Friday, Oct. 5 when it hosts the Jaguar Invitational at Blanchard Woods Park. Race time is slated for 5:15 p.m., in Evans, Ga.
