Cross Country Schedule Released

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State head cross country coach Adam Ward officially unveiled the 2012 Jaguar Women's and Men's Cross Country schedules on Monday.

Both squads will begin the season on Saturday, Sept. 1 in Memphis, Tenn., when they run in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic. Following an off week, the Jags travel to Gainesville, Fla., on Sept. 15 for the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational.

A week later, both teams will run in the Falcon Classic on Sept. 22 in Montevallo, Ala., site of the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Championships. ASU wraps up the regular season with its home event, the Jaguar Invitational, on Friday, Oct. 5 at 5:15 p.m., at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga. The Lady Jags were second in 2011 to Georgia State, while the ASU men's squad will be looking to defend its title from last season.

Ward, a five-time Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year selection, is entering his ninth season at the helm of the ASU Cross Country programs. He has guided the Lady Jags to six straight NCAA Regional appearances and led the men's squad to the 2011 conference championship in just the second season since the program's reinstatement.

ASU finished in sixth place in both the women's and men's NCAA Southeast Regional last fall at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C.
