NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-Region honorees for the 2019 NCAA Division II outdoor track & field season on Tuesday afternoon. Augusta University sophomores Jacob Poston and Derrian Wright represented the Jaguars on the list, with Poston earning the award for the 1500 meters and Wright the 800 meters.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top-three relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season. A total of 1,831 honors were handed out to USTFCCCA member institutions on Monday, which included 926 to men's programs and an additional 905 to women's programs.
Poston posted an All-Region finish in the 1500 meters at the Gulf South / Peach Belt Crossover on April 6 in Huntsville, Ala. He placed second overall in 3:54.96 to earn honors.
Wright achieved the mark at the Don McGarey Invitational on April 27 with a time of 1:52.22 in the 800 meters.
