Augusta Wraps Selected Events At Mount Olive Last Chance Meet

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Augusta University men's outdoor track and field team sent seven student-athletes to the Mount Olive Last Chance Meet, May 10-13, to compete in five events. Despite a first-place finish and several top marks, Augusta came up short in reaching a qualifying time for the NCAA Championships.

 

 

In the 200-meter race, AU sophomore Josh Hewing sprinted to a sixth-place showing in 21.67 to set the new school record for the Jaguars. AU sophomore Sean McCreary grabbed 10th in 22.17 in the 200. Freshman sprinter Xavier Allen earned 12th in the 400-meter race, while Derrian Wright took ninth in 1:57.02. AU's 4x100 team of Allen, Hewing, Wright, and Andre Walker took ninth with a time of 42.46.

 

Augusta sophomore Jacob Poston ran a 3:57.31 to take third in the 1500-meter final to start the weekend and he won the 5000-meter race with a time of 14:57.90. Fellow sophomore Hunter Kimball took second behind Poston in the 5K with a time of 15:07.81.
