Augusta Snags Sixth At PBC/Gulf South Crossover

MADISON, Ala. – The Augusta University men's outdoor track & field team placed sixth at the Peach Belt / Gulf South Conference Crossover on Saturday in Madison, Ala. The event was hosted by the University of Alabama Huntsville in Huntsville.

 

UAH won its home meet with 190 points, while Lee took second (155), Shorter third (69), Montevallo fourth (60), and Columbus State fifth (51.5) for the top teams in the field of nine.

 

Augusta freshman Jason Brown booked fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.91m and junior Leke Adeleye earned seventh in 12.65m. Freshman Alex Rountree led the Jaguars in the javelin and took seventh overall with a distance of 42.40m. Sophomore Christopher Schintgen earned 10th in the javelin and freshman Tremond Hatton 11th for AU. Jags junior Anthony Mounzer took 10th in the shot put with a distance of 11.35m.

 

AU got a top-five mark from freshman Xavier Allen when he placed third in the 400 meter hurdles and sophomore Jacob Poston took second in the 1500 meter race. Freshman Chandler Kennedy finished the 1500 in fifth place, while freshman Kai Brickey took 10th. Augusta freshman Joshua Seiden placed 10th in the 3000 meter run, crossing the line in 9:29.23m.

 

In the 5000 meter race, senior Noah Hulett crossed the line in 15:14.31 for second overall and freshmen Rakeem Littles, Hans Troyer, and Ryan Gallagher took seventh, eighth, and 10th. Augusta carded fourth out of 27 in the 100 meter dash, thanks to sophomore Sean McCreary's 10.92 finish.

 

Sophomore Zatrick Pearce and Allen gave the Jaguars a pair of top-10 finishes in the 400 meter dash, with Pearce earning seventh (50.02) and Allen ninth (50.44). Jags junior Anthony Mounzer finished the discus in ninth place with a distance of 36.88m. 

 

The PBC Championships take place April 18-20, hosted by Embry-Riddle, in Daytona Beach, Fla.
