Augusta Takes 2nd at Victor Icebreaker Duals

ROME, Ga. – The Augusta University men's outdoor track and field team finished the Victor Icebreaker Duals in second place on Saturday in Rome, Ga., to start the 2019 season.

 

Hosted by Berry College at Valhalla Stadium, the Victor Icebreaker Duals featured 15 competing teams. Lee won with 208 points, while Augusta took second with 107 points.

 

The Jaguars placed first in the 4x400 meter relay with sophomore Derrian Wright, freshman Alex Roundtree, freshman Xavier Allen, and sophomore Joshua Hewing winning in 3:25.44.

 

Augusta Sophomore Zatrick Pearce placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.18 and AU sophomore Derrian Wright placed runner-up in the men's 800-meter run - finishing in 1:57.60; .22 seconds behind winner Mark Duggan from Shorter University.

 

Sophomore Jacob Poston finished second for the Jaguars in the 1500-meter to finish in 4:00.90. Adding to the strong distance-event finishes, Augusta sophomore Hunter Kimball and senior Noah Hulett finished third and fourth in the 5000-meter run in 14:56.25 and 14:59.19 respectively. Freshman Josh Seiden finished runner-up in the 3000-meter steeplechase - finishing in 9:47.37 in his first collegiate race.

 

Augusta heads to Atlanta, Ga., for the Emory Invitational March 22-23 at Emory University.
