Jags Return To Emory Classic To Card Fourth of 22

ATLANTA, Ga. – For the third straight season, the Augusta University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Emory Classic and the Jaguars took fourth out of 22 teams on Saturday.  The 2017 edition lasted Friday and Saturday in Atlanta, Ga., and AU shattered two school records.

 
 

Shorter won the meet with 151 points, Findlay second, host Emory third, Augusta fourth, and Colby placed fifth for the top five teams. The Jaguars have finishes fourth or better in all

 

Augusta's Kudakwashe Nyahuma set the school record in the 100 meter race and finished 2nd in 10.48 to qualify for the NCAA provisional mark. Nyahuma is currently fourth in the nation for his top time in the 100 meter.

 

Junior Dylan Forester won the 10,000K meter race in 32:23.53. The Jags had three runners finish in the top five of the 10K race, with Noah Hulett taking third (33:19.61), and Zack Hill fourth (33:49.89) out of 18.

 

Adding another first-place mark for the Jags was sophomore Daniel Broadhead who won the 5000 meter race out of 48 racers in 15:21.18.

 

AU also set a school record in the 110 meter hurdles with Andy Constant carding fifth with a time of 15.28. In the long jump, Constant reached 6.70m to finish fourth overall and Leke Adeleye earned fourth in the triple jump in 13.25m.

 

In Friday's action, senior Taylor Coxwell carded eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 45.19 meters. He took 12th in the 400 meter hurdles, while Justin Harrison earned 14th and Shane Rowand 15th.

 

The Jags took fourth of 18 in the 4x100 meter race with Nyahuma, Harrison, Albert Acheampong, and Ryan White finishing in 42.58. Harrison led the team in the 200 meter with a time of 22.44 to take 12th.

 

Augusta heads to Southern Wesleyan April 7-8 in Central, S.C.
