No. 28 Jags Seventh At Emory Classic

ATLANTA, Ga.  – The No. 28 nationally-ranked Jaguars notched seventh out of 24 teams at the Emory Classic on March 27-28 in Atlanta, Ga.

GRU has competed in five meets on the year and has finished in the top 10 in every single one and placed in the top-three on three different occasions, taking second at the Columbus State Cougar Invite to highlight the year so far on Feb. 28, 2015.

Emory won their home event, while Marian (Ind.), Taylor, Mobile, and Columbus State rounded out the top five. 

After Friday's competition at the Emory Classic, the Jaguars sat in sixth place in the field of 24, leading the two other Peach Belt Conference school, Columbus State who sat sixth, and Georgia College who ranked 13th after Friday's events.

Sophomores Justin Harrison and Taylor Coxwell took seventh and eighth in the 400m hurdles, and Sean-Michael Rand, the reigning PBC Track Athlete of the Week, notched second in the high jump with a leap of 1.95m.

Coxwell also carded a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a toss of 45.38m and took seventh in the 100m hurdles on Saturday and fourth in the 110m hurdles.

In the long jump, Rand and teammate Christian Collier finished right behind one another. Rand took 10th in 6.30m, and Collier finished 11th with a jump of 6.23m. Collier placed ninth in the 100m hurdles on Saturday.

In the 400m dash on Saturday, GRU's Andrew Folk notched 10th place, while Xavier Fennell notched 13th and Ryan White 19th. GRU's 4x400 team of Allen Eckles, Fennell, White, and Folk took sixth in a time of 3:29.54.
