Jags Notch Eighth Of 28 At Emory Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga.  – The Jaguar men's outdoor track and field team finished eighth out of 28 teams on March 21 at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., highlighted by GRU Augusta's Dustin Ross taking first in the 1500m and Sean-Michael Rand winning the high jump.

The Jaguar men ended Friday's competition holding onto fourth place and finished in the top 10 of the field after the second day of events on Saturday. Local sophomore Sean Michael-Rand highlighted GRU Augusta at the Emory Invitational by winning the high jump and setting a new Peach Belt Conference record with a leap of 2.05 in the Jaguars' fourth meet of the year.

Michael-Rand bested the high jump on Friday over the 25 other competitors. Rand shattered the old Peach Belt high jump mark of 2.01 to take first place in Atlanta, Ga.

Numerous Jags posted their personal records and set new marks for GRU track and field. Nick Del Guercio ran a 31:58 in the 10k for his new personal best, and Joseph Lozano reached 11'1'' on the pole vault for his new best attempt. Justin Harrison took 10th overall in the men's 400m hurdles and set the new record for GRU at 57.12.

GRU's 4x400 team, consisting of Ryan White, Xavier Fennell, Andrew Folk, and Allen Eckles, finished at 3:26.04 for their new best finish and a best for the Jags all time.

In just their third of competition, the Jaguars are making headlines and continued to shine in Atlanta with numerous top finishes and a top-10 place. See the list of personal records that the Jags achieved at Emory.

Both men's 4x100 teams (42.96 7th place)

Men's 4x400 team (3:26.71)

Justin Harrison - Men's 400h in 57.12 school record (10th overall)

Sean Michael Rand - Men's high jump (also conference record) 6'8.75" (1st place overall)

Joseph Lozano - men's pole vault (11'1")

Dustin Ross 1st place overall in the men's 1500m (3:53.99)
