Jaguars Headed to High Point

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams are scheduled to travel to High Point, N.C., this weekend, March 4-5, to compete in High Point University's Vertklasse Meeting.  This meet will serve as the last major competition for the Jaguars before they travel to Rome, Ga., to compete in the Peach Belt Conference Championships.

The meet will be contested by athletes from all divisions and is expected to be highly competitive.  Among the many Division I teams participating in the event will be Duke, Wake Forest, and N.C. State.  Fast times, high jumps, and far throws should be the norm, as many athletes are still chasing conference and national qualifying marks.

Head Coach Adam Ward is excited for the weekend and the opportunity for his athletes to perform well heading into conference.  "This meet serves as our final team tune-up before conference," Ward said.  "We may take a very select few individuals to compete at Furman the following weekend, but this is most of the athletes' last chance to qualify for PBCs.  If the weather holds up, then we should expect to see some big performances."
